What do you need church shoes for? Jesus wore sandals.

Well, maybe if he'd had better arch support, they wouldn't have caught him.

Beach Bound

I'm heading to Pensacola this weekend. While I'm gone, eat some candy and check on the status of my Mini.

I need help

I can't seem to stop my current cravings for sweets. I'm eating enough candy, cookies and Little Debbies to put my body into a diabetic coma.

I can't say no to the candy corn that's made it's annual appearance for Halloween. I picked up two bags today at lunch and demolished one bag over the course of the day. Tuesday I bought a bag of Tootsie Roll Midgees - Vanilla & a bag of Starburst. The tootsie rolls are gone.

Over the past several weeks I've purchased the giantic boxes of SweetTarts and Bottle Caps that Wal-Mart sells for 88 cents. I've sworn off the Bottle Caps after my mouth was raw for two days after eating a box one evening. Each box has about 500 servings in it.

You might suggest I practice some self-control with sweets; yes, you're quite right, I should. I have no will power.

To combat my growing waistline from all this sugar, I've started jogging again. This week makes week number three. I make my way to the local high school track and do a run/walk of 2 miles. I reached a big milestone Wednesday, I was able to run one half of one lap. That's right 1/8 th of a mile non-stop. Go ahead laugh, the runners at the office did. Personally I find it funny as hell. Who brags about 1/8 th of a mile? Me. I do. That's what makes me special.

This to any normal person might seem like an odd accomplishment to brag about, but since I had six inches of my intestines removed in June, I feel pretty damn good about it. And for added perspective, when I started I couldn't run the length of the football field. I've made it a point to run on the non-karate days, which basically means I've been active 6 days a week. Yet I'm still waiting for all this exercise to transform my body. Am I tad impatient? Yes.

I celebrated my lap accomplishment with some new running clothes. I sprung for two new sports bras, a gaggle of ankle socks, dry wicking shorts and a shirt. I no longer look like a vagabond traipsing thru the neighborhood on the track.

During the first two weeks of my running adventures, my knee would ache like hell. But now it seems the regular exercise is helping it. That and the two Aleve I take every morning to combat stiffness.

I'll take a break from the run this weekend as I head to beach to blind everybody with my casper white body in an electric blue bathing suit floating on a hot pink floatie. I'll take some photos to share this awesome display.

Many Obsessive Mini Owners

Researching vanity plates brought me to a nifty website, NorthAmericanMotoring, which is home to all Mini owners in the U.S. & Canada. Mostly the site is one big message board where people share their love of the Mini. And by love, I mean obsess over the little car.

I've learned that in addition to the official Mini website which serves as the main focus of tracking your car, the NAM members, as they're known, give extra instruction on tracking. Things discovering the name of the shipping company, the boat name, where the boat will dock and even how to use GPS tracking to locate the ship with you car.

Turns out Mini also runs an 800 number offering order updates. Each person is assigned a MA, Motoring Assistant, who answers questions and gives updates. Several NAMers admit to calling the hotline repeatedly in a day, then they report it all to the forum. Example, "Good news guys, they just finished painting Sally. She's finally out of paint and is on her way to wax."

There's even a support group for each production run. It seems once your order is placed, your MA can give you a date when your car will begin production and when it will be completed.

Although I stumbled on this site by accident, I did want to know all of the above. My production run is #34. The ship (The Integrity) is currently in Baltimore and will arrive in South Carolina on Saturday. My Silver & Black Mini will be unloaded by Sunday and hopefully it will be at the dealership next week.

With only two days of browsing I've been sucked into this little cult. It's imperative that I read the next post on little known Mini facts, or premium vs regular unleaded gas. I guess the next step is to name my car. It is encouraged the official MINI site, as well as the NAM site. I can't resist the peer pressure. I mean if it's encouraged an all...

I deem thee, Goliath.

I'm Bringing Sexy Back

I made a special trip to Super Target today at lunch in order to purchase Justin's new CD. Upon exiting, sight of fresh pretzels at the Pizza Hut express wooed me. Although it was quite tasty, it's not nearly as good as the one in the mall, Cortana - that is, A.J. Twist. I'd like to provide you with more information on their delicious treats, but it seems they are a local with no information on the web. I can tell you this, their near Piccadilly. Anyway the AJ pretzel is the best. It's even better if enjoyed with a Fanta Strawberry drink. Steve Harvey was roaming the mall last time I indulged in the twisty goodness. Good food and celebrity sightings, it's like Spago, but with white trash and gangsters.

Yummy, yummy, yummy I got pretzel in my tummy.

I spent a chunk of time last night Googleing the internet for plate ideas. My favorites, in order, are as follows: Goliath, notaspy, minirkt, go cart, and s car go.

According to my research, many state DMVs allow users to search their db for currently used names. But not our great state. After completing my paperwork, the state will hold the application for at least to weeks to review it. Then a committee will decide if the word(s) are vulgar or offensive. Sigh.

An actual committee to evaluate vulgar and offensive sayings? Where were they when Nagin opened his month this past year? Well hell, Blanco is offensive to me, can we get this committee to revoke her?

Mini Me

The cooper is on a boat bound for the U.S. Thanks to the good folks over at Miniusa I can track my Mini just like a UPS package. Tomorrow makes one month since it was order. If the delivery formula holds true, I've to two more weeks.

The ad for the Jeep has been running for four days and not one call. Scratch that, some dude, Jeff, called saying his company would help me sell it for only $89. There's a money back guarantee and supposedly he has some interested parties. The company is called Longwood Industries. I'm willing to part with $90 if someone will pay my asking price. My mission tomorrow is to call Jeff and research his company.

I'd like to get a personalized license plate using a play on the word mini, but other than the given Ih8U, I've got nothing.

Can I get a what what?

Working on a new look.

This is a test of the beardedgnomes blogging system. Do not adjust your monitor.

Ok, what you see is what you get. That's about it. There will be some tweaking here and there, but yeah, this is it. Grand ain't it?
